Baseball Game Preview: Sardis Lions vs. Douglas Eagles

The Sardis Lions will square off against the Douglas Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Sardis after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Douglas by a score of 7-6. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brady Gazaway was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garrett Holland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Holland, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Sardis now has a losing record of 6-7.
