Franklin County hasn't had much luck against Wakulla recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Seahawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Franklin County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
If Franklin County beats Wakulla with six runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Seahawks came out on top against Blountstown by a score of 6-3 on Monday.
Sarah Ham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Shasta Butler and Micahlyn O'Neal did most of the damage at the plate: Butler got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs, while O'Neal went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits O'Neal has posted since back in May of 2024.
Franklin County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wakulla is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Spanish Fort. The War Eagles fell just short of the Toros by a score of 2-1. The War Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Wakulla also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Charley Butler gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Butler has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances.
Wakulla's loss dropped their record down to 17-4-1. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Franklin County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Wakulla struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Franklin County couldn't quite finish off Wakulla in their previous meeting back in February and fell 3-1. Will the Seahawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
