Baseball Game Preview: Jimtown Jimmies vs. Kouts Mustangs & Fillies

The Jimtown Jimmies will challenge the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Jimtown took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jimmies won by a run and slipped past the Raiders 4-3.

Connor Christman was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. Jimtown is undefeated when Christman posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

Kouts hadn't beaten Morgan Township on the road since May 5, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies came out on top against the Cherokees by a score of 5-1.

Billy Miller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben Finney, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Kouts pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Jimtown, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jimtown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Kouts struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
