Soccer Game Preview: Lakewood vs. Mount Vernon

Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Mount Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Lakewood will challenge Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m. Lakewood will be strutting in after a victory while Mount Vernon will be coming in after a loss.

Lakewood barely beat Nooksack Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lakewood never let Nooksack Valley get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Tuesday. Considering Lakewood have won three matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon fell victim to Anacortes and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 1-0. The loss put an end to Mount Vernon's undefeated start to the season.

Lakewood now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mount Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1-1.

Lakewood might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Mount Vernon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
