Basketball Recap: Sumter County Panthers vs. Monroe Golden Tornadoes
Sumter County was the 73-59 winner over Monroe when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers lost to the Golden Tornadoes at home by a 55-40 margin on Tuesday.
Monroe was led to victory by Brayden Burns and Tristan Terry. Burns shot 60% from the field en route to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Terry went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points and four steals. The matchup was Burns' third in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Adams, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Sumter County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Monroe, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
