Volleyball Recap: Western Branch Bruins vs. Menchville Monarchs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Western Branch had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Menchville Monarchs with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Bruins who have now won six games in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-20, 25-16.

Elijah Quinata paced Western Branch's offense, picking up 14 kills. Quinata got some help from Nate Brownfield and his 28 assists. Finally, Preston Clarke and Will Poole kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Western Branch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Menchville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 18-4 record.

Western Branch will challenge Granby on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Granby has won seven straight at home, while Western Branch won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
