Volleyball Recap: Edgewood Takes a Loss

Edgewood entered their match against Colerain on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Edgewood took Colerain into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 15-5.

Loss or not, Edgewood got some senior leadership from Carlee Jones and Kaelyn Alexander. Jones had 12 digs and three aces, while Alexander had nine digs and one assist. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Jones.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Colerain, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood will head out to take on Monroe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colerain, they will venture away from home to challenge Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
