Football Game Preview: Newberg Tigers vs. Central Catholic Rams

The Newberg Tigers will face off against the Central Catholic Rams on Friday.

On Friday, Newberg and Sherwood were almost perfectly matched up, but Newberg suffered a 27-26 defeat. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newberg might have lost, but man, Parker Sellner was a machine: he threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards. Sellner is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Colton Seifert also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They breezed past Sandy to the tune of 39-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won eight in a row.

Newberg suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 5-4. As for Central Catholic, their record now sits at 7-2.

Newberg lost to Central Catholic on the road by a decisive 28-12 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2019. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
