Basketball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks vs. Rincon/University Rangers

Ironwood Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-29 bruising from the Rincon/University Rangers. The Nighthawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Ironwood Ridge still got an impressive performance from Molly Walter, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 17 rebounds. Walter is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Barton, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Ironwood Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Rincon/University's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leila O'Dowd, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Wexler, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points.

Ironwood Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Rincon/University, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8.

Ironwood Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-41 win against Marana on the 12th. Rincon/University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
