Basketball Recap: Round Rock Comes Up Short

Round Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stony Point Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Tigers are ranked 18th).

Stony Point's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Uzziah Buntyn, who posted 13 points along with eight assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Ratliffe, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points.

Round Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Stony Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Vandegrift the next time they take the court. Round Rock will head out to face Vandegrift at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Stony Point will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
