Softball Recap: West Covina Find Success

West Covina's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since February 25th.

Leslie Baustista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danielle Diaz, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Melina Alvarado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The victory got West Covina back to even at 6-6-1. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Covina will venture away from home to challenge Monrovia at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they will take on San Clemente at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
