Volleyball Recap: San Simon Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact San Simon can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions on Tuesday. The Longhorns' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

The final score came out to 25-4, 25-3, 25-17.

San Simon's offense was headlined by Alyzon Corrales and Evelyn Lopez, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Alexia Newell and her three assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Yulissa Romo, each putting up two.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cicero Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sasha Hruby, who had six aces. Those six aces gave Hruby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Claire Hodgson, who had four aces and three digs.

San Simon now has a losing record of 16-17. As for Cicero Prep Academy, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-9.

San Simon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cicero Prep Academy, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Mogollon on the 7th.
