Dr. Maya Angelou Community hadn't done well against Los Angeles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Phoenix came out on top against the Romans by a score of 8-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Phoenix: when they faced off against the Romans last Wednesday, they had to take a 8-4 defeat.

Dr. Maya Angelou Community's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2-1. As for Los Angeles, they moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Dr. Maya Angelou Community and Los Angeles will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Phoenix see the field they'll take on West Adams at 3:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Los Angeles, their break will end when they face Diego Rivera at 3:00 p.m. on the 30th.
