Baseball Recap: Bellevue Comes Up Short

Bellevue extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Climax-Scotts Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 back in April.

Bellevue saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boston Byers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

As for Climax-Scotts, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Climax-Scotts' side, Logan Gilbert made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gilbert has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Dzwik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Eyre, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue will host Maple Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Climax-Scotts, they will face off against Lakeview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
