Baseball Recap: Martin County Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Martin County took on Floyd Central on Monday. The Cardinals took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

Dylan Spence made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Mann, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Martin County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-24. As for Floyd Central, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin County will welcome Lawrence County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Floyd Central, they will be playing at home against Pike County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
