Basketball Recap: Belle Plaine Takes a Loss

Belle Plaine lost against Medicine Lodge back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Belle Plaine Dragons fell to the Medicine Lodge Indians 66-60. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Indians are ranked 144th).

Despite the loss, Belle Plaine saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brooks Mcginnis went 6 of 9 en route to 20 points. Mcginnis also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 67%. Tristan Wasser was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 15 points and five boards.

Belle Plaine has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Medicine Lodge, their record now sits at 8-4-2.

Belle Plaine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-30 defeat against Cheney on the 11th. As for Medicine Lodge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-37 loss against Garden Plain on the 10th.
