Baseball Recap: South Fremont Victorious

South Fremont posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Snake River Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Cy Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has become a key player for South Fremont: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, South Fremont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Hammond, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

South Fremont's record is now 8-11. As for Snake River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Fremont will welcome Teton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Snake River, they will host Bear Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.55 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
