Del Mar had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it nine. They came up short against the Prospect Panthers, falling 17-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Tuesday.

As for Prospect, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

For Prospect's part, Ethan Roth was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
