Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Liberty walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Washington Golden Eagles a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Panthers have won 18 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 24 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Washington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Liberty will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
