Basketball Recap: Dawson Springs Takes a Loss

Dawson Springs played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 79-56 to the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons. The Panthers were down 63-42 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Dawson Springs lost, don't look at Rex Blue. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. Blue's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Easton Bourland, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Dawson Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Dawson Springs' record is now 8-8. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Dawson Springs will venture away from home to face off against Evansville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, they will welcome Taylor County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
