Softball Recap: Juan Diego Catholic Starts Season with Win on the Road

Juan Diego Catholic had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the South Summit Wildcats 12-11. This was payback for the Soaring Eagle, who suffered an 11-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Juan Diego Catholic let Sarah Fiore and Ellie Palmer run wild. Fiore went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Palmer scored four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Palmer has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mattie Montoya, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for South Summit and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Juan Diego Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-7 loss against Beaver on the 6th. As for South Summit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-4 defeat against Sky View on the 6th.
