Baseball Recap: Cameron Comes Up Short

Lathrop hit Cameron with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons fell just short of the Mules by a score of 6-5. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mules earlier this season, when they won 13-10.

Tyler Erwin was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Cameron's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 8-15 when he doesn't).

Erwin wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Jorgensen, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Beckett Erdman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Cameron's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Lathrop, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-14 record.

As of now, neither Cameron nor the Mules have any future games scheduled.
