Basketball Recap: Port Huron's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Port Huron hadn't done well against New Haven recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Port Huron Red Hawks managed a 57-52 win over the New Haven Rockets. Given the Red Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Rockets are ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Port Huron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrett James led the charge by going 7 for 16 on his way to 25 points and five blocks. James' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jaedyn Carswell was another key player, putting up 19 points and four steals.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Port Huron, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for New Haven, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Huron will take on Lake Shore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Haven, they will challenge St. Clair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
