Soccer Game Preview: Wylie East vs. Garland

The Wylie East Raiders will head out to face off against the Garland Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wylie East's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wylie East came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Rowlett, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garland). They put the hurt on Lakeview Centennial with a sharp 5-0 victory on Friday. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Patriots are ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garland's offense was hitting Lakeview Centennial from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Garland's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six games. As for Wylie East, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-4.

Wylie East couldn't quite get it done against Garland when the teams last played back in February as they fell 3-1. Can Wylie East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
