Basketball Game Preview: Rosa Fort Lions vs. Independence Wildcats

Rosa Fort is 0-9 against Independence since November of 2016 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rosa Fort Lions duke it out with the Independence Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.

Rosa Fort is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-35 heartbreaker at the hands of Holly Springs.

Starkira Wellington put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 19 points. That was a full 54.3% of Rosa Fort's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Independence had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past the Cardinals 61-28. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Independence is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Rosa Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Things could have been worse for Rosa Fort, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-41 loss to Independence in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
