Baseball Recap: Newkirk Has No Trouble Against Nowata

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cashion, Newkirk was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Nowata Ironmen. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Newkirk has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Nowata is on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Crescent's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Newkirk's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nowata, they will take on Afton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Afton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Nowata will no doubt try to take advantage of.
