Basketball Game Preview: Douglas County Huskies vs. Regis Jesuit Raiders

Douglas County is 0-10 against Regis Jesuit since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Douglas County Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Douglas County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Douglas County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 57-23 win over Pueblo County. With the Huskies ahead 32-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Natalie Knight was the offensive standout of the game as she went 7 of 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Megan Thorne, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Douglas County was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit faced Grandview in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Regis Jesuit fell 44-33 to Grandview. The Raiders have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Douglas County's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Regis Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Douglas County was taken down by Regis Jesuit 87-48 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Douglas County, Coryn Watts (who went 9 for 11 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
