Soccer Recap: Providence Extends Winning Streak to Six

Providence gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out the East Mecklenburg Eagles 2-1. Providence's winning goal came courtesy of Madison Detenber.

The victory (which was Providence's sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those six games. As for East Mecklenburg, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence take on Charlotte Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Catholic's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Providence's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for East Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Mecklenburg will be up against Rocky River's rather soft defense (which has allowed 6.75 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
