Recap: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Inglewood Sentinels
It was a good run, but The Leuzinger Olympians unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Inglewood 27-23. Leuzinger has struggled against Inglewood recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Leuzinger's loss came despite strong showings from Damonte Bias and Journee Tonga. Bias rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while Tonga rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Bias was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Damon Wrighster was a one-man wrecking crew for Inglewood as he rushed for 101 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Leuzinger's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Inglewood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leuzinger will play host again and welcome Hawthorne, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawthorne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 800th, while Leuzinger is ranked 57th). As for Inglewood, they will be playing at home against Morningside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morningside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
