Soccer Game Preview: Grand Valley vs. Basalt

Grand Valley hasn't had much luck against Basalt recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Basalt took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Grand Valley, who comes in off a win.

Grand Valley took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Ridgway with a sharp 5-2 win. With Grand Valley ahead 4-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Basalt's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coal Ridge. That's two games in a row now that Basalt have lost by exactly two goals.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 4-8-2. As for Grand Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-3.

Grand Valley came up short against Basalt in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
