Softball Game Preview: Eastern York Golden Knights vs. Susquehannock Warriors

The Eastern York Golden Knights will face off against the Susquehannock Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

If Eastern York beats Susquehannock with seven runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Golden Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Delone Catholic 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Knights have posted since March 21st.

Meanwhile, Susquehannock beat Littlestown 7-3 on Thursday.

Ella Wetzel was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Wetzel wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mia Wetzel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Susquehannock pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eastern York, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
