Softball Recap: Kennard-Dale Gets the Win

Kennard-Dale had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Big Spring Bulldogs on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Taryn Ashenfelter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Ashenfelter wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Davis has hit this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Kennard-Dale and bumps their season record up to 21-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Big Spring, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 17-5 record.

Kennard-Dale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-1 win against Northern Lebanon on the 27th. Big Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
