Basketball Game Preview: Spanish Springs Cougars vs. Jesuit Marauders + How To Watch

The Spanish Springs Cougars will challenge the Jesuit Marauders at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Spanish Springs gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Galena 71-41. The Cougars pushed the score to 59-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies cut but never quite recovered from.

Spanish Springs' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brady Hummel, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards, and Jaden Penney, who went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Hummel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson McNeil, who posted ten points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Jesuit had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past Pleasant Grove to the tune of 73-45 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Marauders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row dating back to last season.

Spanish Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jesuit in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 62-58 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
