Softball Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Hallettsville Brahmas
Edna hasn't had much luck against Hallettsville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Edna Cowboys will face off against the Hallettsville Brahmas at 6:00 p.m.
Things were looking good for Edna after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 10-3 to Tidehaven. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Hallettsville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Raiders an 18-0 shutout. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Brahmas yet this season.
Grace Halata made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last nine games. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.
