Barbers Hill waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 23 straight wins... but they left with 24. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Port Neches-Groves Indians. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Barbers Hill had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 26-24, 15-12.

Barbers Hill can attribute much of their success to Alli Yzquierdo, who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs gave Yzquierdo a new career-high.

Yzquierdo wasn't the only good servers: Barbers Hill was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in 15 consecutive contests.

Barbers Hill's victory bumped their record up to 37-5. As for Port Neches-Groves, their loss ended a ten-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 30-14.

Barbers Hill and Port Neches-Groves should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 108th) will meet Nederland (ranked 467th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Port Neches-Groves will take on Beaumont United at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (297 vs. 1129).
