Preview: Ocoee Knights vs. Timber Creek Wolves
The Ocoee Knights are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Ocoee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ocoee walked away with it. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 51-24 victory over the Blue Darters. Ocoee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 23 points or more this season.
Micah Hannah continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Hannah is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayla Weiser, who scored eight points along with eight assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Timber Creek came up short against Colonial on Friday and fell 40-32. While losing is never fun, Timber Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Colonial is ranked fourth).
Ocoee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Timber Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
Things could have been worse for Ocoee, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-37 loss to Timber Creek in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Ocoee, Analyse Rios (who scored 16 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
