Softball Recap: Service Cougars vs. Bartlett Golden Bears

Service has not done well against Bartlett recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Service Cougars put the hurt on the Bartlett Golden Bears with a sharp 10-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Service.

McKinley Fuller was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Fuller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances. Fuller was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Hayli Mewha was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Camryn Reinhard was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

On Bartlett's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tasiaeafe Matautia, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Service's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Bartlett, they dropped their record down to 6-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Service will take on Dimond at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Dimond's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Service's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
