Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Churchill County Greenwave

Reed has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Churchill County Greenwave at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Reed knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Churchill County likes a good challenge.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Reed ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Elko with a 76-72 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Reed's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Peterson led the charge by scoring 29 points. The matchup was Peterson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Williams, who scored 28 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

Meanwhile, Churchill County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 54-45 win over North Valleys.

Churchill County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Paul out in front who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Trevor Hyde was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 14 rebounds and 3 steals.

The losses dropped Reed to 3-4 and Elko to 2-2.
