Baseball Recap: Jefferson-Morgan Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Jefferson-Morgan had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Mapletown on Tuesday. The Rockets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Maples a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Rockets have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to John Woodward's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jefferson-Morgan got a big performance out of Brayden Ellsworth, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Ellsworth a new career-high. Deakyn DeHoet was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jefferson-Morgan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mapletown, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Jefferson-Morgan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Maples: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
