Basketball Recap: Ore City Rebels vs. Hawkins Hawks
Ore City lost against Hawkins back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ore City Rebels lost 58-32 to the Hawkins Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1279th, while the Hawks are ranked 416th).
Brayden Givens was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 14 en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Hawkins. Givens is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derek Hollman, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three blocks.
Ore City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Hawkins, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-2.
Coming up, Ore City will host Harleton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hawkins, they will venture away from home to take on McLeod at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
