Basketball Game Preview: Henry-Senachwine Mallards vs. Seneca Fighting Irish

Henry-Senachwine is 1-7 against Seneca since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Henry-Senachwine Mallards will host the Seneca Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m.

Henry-Senachwine will head into Thursday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 57-27 loss at the hands of Marquette. The Mallards were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

The losing side was boosted by Kaitlyn Anderson, who posted 15 points and five rebounds. That was a full 55.6% of Henry-Senachwine's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Harper Schrock, who put up two points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Seneca had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 49-40. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Trojans are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Henry-Senachwine's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Seneca, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
