Preview: Wabash Apaches vs. Whitko Wildcats
Wabash has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Whitko Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Two Fridays ago, Wabash took a serious blow against Maconaquah, falling 55-13. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wabash in their matchups with Maconaquah: they've now lost six in a row.
Trevor Daughtry put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Whitko's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 33-0 loss at the hands of Northfield. Whitko was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Wabash has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight matches, which gives them a 1-7 record this season. As for Whitko, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Wabash against Whitko in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wabash since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
