Basketball Recap: Powell County Takes a Loss

If Powell County was riding high fresh off their 58-37 takedown of Buckhorn last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Powell County Pirates fell 69-56 to the Breathitt County Bobcats on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-37 back in December of 2024.

Powell County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Breathitt County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Powell County will venture away from home to face off against West Carter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Breathitt County, they will welcome Betsy Layne at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Breathitt County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
