The UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs will head out to take on the St. Michael Catholic Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
UMS-Wright Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 51-6 win over Faith Academy. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-0.

UMS-Wright Prep relied on the efforts of Max Fowler, who threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and Richard Scott, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD. Fowler's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Perry Hand got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something UMS-Wright Prep proved: they limited Faith Academy to a paltry -0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Matthew Warren for the heroic effort on defense: he. UMS-Wright Prep's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.6.
UMS-Wright Prep's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Hand got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, St. Michael Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Orange Beach, posting a 49-7 victory. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Makos are ranked 161st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
UMS-Wright Prep better focus on containing Noah Moss and Gunner Rivers as the pair were huge in St. Michael Catholic's win. Moss rushed for 175 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while Rivers threw for 271 yards and four TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes. Rivers has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Tomlinson, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one touchdown.
UMS-Wright Prep's record now sits at 6-3. As for St. Michael Catholic, their record is now 9-0.
UMS-Wright Prep couldn't quite get it done against St. Michael Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 35-28. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
