Baseball Game Preview: Milton-Union Bulldogs vs. Troy Christian Eagles

The Milton-Union Bulldogs will square off against the Troy Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Milton-Union made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lehman Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Karson Stone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Hunter Fraley was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Wesley Schommer, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Troy Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Covington a 9-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Buccs: they've now won four in a row.

Landon Day was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Day was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Day wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marcus O'Neal, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

The victory got Milton-Union back to even at 2-2. As for Troy Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Milton-Union came up short against Troy Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
