Basketball Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

Taft's tournament run continued when they took on Unity Christian Academy on Friday. The Taft Eagles took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unity Christian Academy Phoenix.

Unity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vincent Allen led the charge by going 5 for 7 on his way to 16 points and three blocks. Mason O'Neal was another key player, putting up 17 points and three steals.

Taft has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Unity Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Taft will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Simeon at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Unity Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Leo at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
