Volleyball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Takes a Loss

After flying high against Catalina Foothills on Thursday, Ironwood Ridge came back down to earth. The Nighthawks fell just short of the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Nighthawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Ironwood Ridge wouldn't go down easily and took ALA - Queen Creek into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 15-12.

With the loss, Ironwood Ridge broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ironwood Ridge will challenge Buena at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will square off against St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
