Amity Regional scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Fairfield Prep, 24-21. At the time, the Jesuits were ranked fifth in the state, while the Spartans were 42nd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Fairfield Prep, who took down fifth ranked Fairfield Prep, 24-21. Tyler Burns threw for 43 yards and one touchdown and ran for 46 yards in the win.
Mark Piccirillo and Jagger Kalagian gave Shelton a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Piccirillo threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns, while Kalagian ran for 151 yards. Matt Feigenblat also contributed to the rushing game with 116 yards on the ground.
Tim Boyle provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Xavier beat Hillhouse. He completed six passes for 229 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 41 yards. Boyle's favorite target this week was James Sullivan, who caught two passes for 94 yards.
Xavier's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Boyle has thrown for 1094 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Kris Luster has 33 catches for 590 yards. DeAngelo Berry leads the league in rushing with 1026 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Xavier takes on second place Shelton. The Falcons defeated the Academics last week, while the Gaels bested Hamden.
Xavier and Hillhouse played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Xavier eventually emerging with a 50-49 victory. Boyle in the win.
