Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. United Christian Academy Eagles

The West Valley Mustangs will face off against the United Christian Academy Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, West Valley turned things around against San Jacinto on Friday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-2.

Nate Navarrete was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Navarrete wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Roman, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Aiden Juarez was another, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, United Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Kings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 18, 2024.

United Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything went West Valley's way against United Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as West Valley made off with a 26-4 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
