Basketball Game Preview: San Jon Coyotes vs. Corona/Vaughn Cardinals

The San Jon Coyotes will take on the Corona/Vaughn Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, San Jon beat Clovis Christian 37-31.

Meanwhile, Corona/Vaughn had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-30 win over the Mustangs. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Corona/Vaughn is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for San Jon, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

San Jon was dealt a bruising 66-15 loss at the hands of Corona/Vaughn when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can San Jon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
